The lake in Lacanau

Covering an area of 19,85km² and a maximum depth of 8m, it is ranked among the largest lakes of the Landes. Its unique setting and some preserved places make it one of the most beautiful lakes in the region.

Navigation on the lake

To navigate, you will have to pay a shipping fee at the Town Hall of Lacanau City or at the Lake Police.

Four places allow you to put your boat in the water :

the nautical halt (Lacanau Ville)
Le Moutchic
La Grande Escoure

The campsite offers direct access to the lake :

  • The beach of the campsite's bar
  • The South Beach
  • The small beach (only during the day until 11 pm)

The beaches are not supervised.
The shallow water makes swimming reassuring for young children.

The lake belongs to the town of Lacanau, all the beaches are public domain.

Water sports and Fishing

Many water sports are possible, either directly on site with your own equipment or by going to Le Moutchic at 2 kms.
