Wine lovers, follow the road of the chateaux of Médoc. All along the estuary, do stop in the best chateaux and discover the numerous appellations of the territory: Margaux, Listrac-Medoc, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe.

The Route of the chateaux which crosses the Médoc is certainly one of the most beautiful. The peninsula stretches 80 kms north of Bordeaux between the Atlantic Ocean and the estuary of the Gironde. It brings together some of the most prestigious vineyards of red wines and numerous Châteaux with unusual architectures.

To access the Route des Chateaux from Bordeaux, follow the road n°2 towards Pauillac. A few kilometers after Blanquefort, the road runs along the Gironde and enters the domain of Margaux. After crossing the Château Siran, you will reach the famous Château Margaux. A must see in this house which is part of the aristocracy of the Bordeaux region. Enjoy the domain of ​​85 hectares, of Palladian architecture and of course wine tastings.

Following the road to the north, you cross St. Julien, who has many estimated wines such asChâteaux Lagrange, Leoville, or Talbot. Then, stop in Pauillac, the capital of the Medoc. FromLatour to Lafite Rothschild, the names of the chateaux are glorious. If you had to visit only one, go to the Chateau Mouton Rothschild : with the fantastic cellars, it has a fine collection related to the grape and wine. Then, the road continues toSaint-Estèphe where you can visit the famousChâteau Montrose.

Thirty miles to the north, the road n°2 joined the RN 125 which returns to Bordeaux. Then you enter the domain of Lesparre-Médoc. The wines are not as known as Pauillac and Margaux, but the vineyards are still beautiful. Before returning to Bordeaux, made ​​a last step in Moulis-en-Médoc to see Grand Poujeaux.
